Pop Up Gallery

THANK YOU FOR A FABULOUS SUMMER AT THE POP UP!

As of August 29, 2014 we closed the doors to our little seasonal gallery while we consider where else we will “pop up”. In the meantime, we four artists are still “doing our thing” …. painting up a storm in our studios at NUarts, 311 North St., Pittsfield and of course we always welcome visitors.

Our website (popupunionst.wordpress.com) and our Facebook page (PopUp on Union Street) have all the details and contact info about all of the artists.

PoP Up Gallery on Union Street – PRESS RELEASE
Pittsfield, Mass., June 20, 2014 -– Union Street in downtown Pittsfield is experiencing a mini-renaissance of its own, coming alive with a new gallery. Four artists from the NUarts Studios at 311 North Street have taken over 25 Union Street and have converted it into a seasonal “POP UP Gallery,” a temporary site to serve summertime visitors to the Upstreet Pittsfield Cultural District.
Berkshire artists Marguerite Bride, Debbie Carter, Joanie Ciolfi and Scott Taylor have filled the intimate gallery space with a selection of original watercolors, oils, mixed media and acrylics, in addition to a wide selection of prints and cards. The four will be staffing the gallery throughout the summer, and potentially beyond.

The arts have played a critical role in the revitalization of downtown Pittsfield. But with the departure of Mary’s Carrot Cake –and Gallery 25 along with it–, and the untimely closure of Wild Sage, the “cultural corner” of the short street was lacking a destination to complement Barrington Stage, which is across Union Street from the new POP UP Gallery. So, the artists banded together to organize and staff the new gallery. Even with the closure of other galleries in town this past year, Pittsfield is still a “happening place” and four artists wanted to make sure no one forgot that
Acknowledging the importance of the theater-going crowd, POP UP Gallery will have hours that are compatible with and convenient to Barrington Stage’s main-stage performances.
Although already serving clients and arts followers, an official grand opening with all four artists will be held on Saturday, July 5, with an open house during the day and reception from 6-8 pm. The gallery will also be open at other times by chance and by appointment with any of the artists.

May, June and July 2014 Exhibit Schedule

The streets of this charming coastal village are lined with art for the two days…one of the oldest shows in New England. It was an honor to be juried in. The show is open on Sat 10 am – 6 pm, and Sunday 10 am – 5 pm. See www.wickfordart.org for artist previews and more information.

Church on the Hill Art Show – Friday and Saturday, July 26-27, in Lilac Park in downtown Lenox, Massachusetts. This is a very popular juried fine art and craft show that I often participate in. I plan to be exhibiting plenty of Berkshire and New England paintings, reproductions and fine art note cards. The show hours are Sat 10 am – 5 pm, and Sun 10 am – 4 pm.

MARGUERITE BRIDE
Watercolors

Marguerite Bride has spent the long cold winter preparing for summer shows, stretching her scope of subjects and venturing from her comfort zone a bit. Mostly known for house portraits and scenes with multiple structures, Bride has also been painting nature scenes, swamps and wetlands, and seascapes.  These new paintings will be “officially” displayed at summer shows and galleries in Lenox, Wickford RI, Marblehead, MA and Pomfret CT, but you can always catch a sneak preview in her studio.

Bride is always happy to consider commission work. A subject she particularly enjoys is painting house portraits, and has now done nearly 150 homes locally, nationally and some in Europe. Commissioning a piece is much easier than most people imagine. Check out Bride’s website for more information, or contact the artist directly.

Bride invites visitors to her studio at NU Arts Studios, 311 North Street, Pittsfield during “open studios” on each first Friday of the month, held in conjunction with Pittsfield’s First Fridays Artswalk from 5-8 pm.  At the NU Arts Studios you will see up to 18 different artists who welcome the public to see their working spaces and meet with the artists.

MARGUERITE BRIDE
Watercolors

Often winter months in the Berkshires are the busiest time for artists who are preparing for the next show season, which always seems to arrive in a hurry. With plans to exhibit new and exciting material, painters view this creative period with great excitement and anticipation. At least that’s how watercolorist Marguerite Bride feels about it.

During these “quiet” months, Bride also gives watercolor technique lessons in her studio on North Street, Pittsfield. Visit her website for more details about commissioning a painting, purchasing a painting or fine art reproduction lessons and updated exhibit information; or contact the artist directly.

Over the years Bride has painted many scenes from vacations, special occasions, and favorite settings…all from clients’ own photos.  These have included  scenes from romantic wedding settings and honeymoon trips, Tuscan villas, vistas from fabulous hikes,  exciting canoe trips, scenes from family vacations and reunions, “once in a life-time” adventures, and more.

Commissions for vacation and house portraits are welcome at any time. It’s not too soon to think about 2014 holiday gift giving…take photos now if you want a stunning winter scene in the Berkshires.

Marguerite Bride will be meeting visitors in her studio during Pittsfield’s First Fridays Artswalks, held on the first Friday of each month. The artists at the NUarts Studios open their studios and welcome visitors to come and see the largest group of working artists under one roof in the Berkshires.

Marguerite Bride, NUarts Studios, Studio 9, 311 North Street, Pittsfield, Studio #5, by appointment only. Call 413-442-7718, or 413-841-1659 (cell); website: margebride-paintings.com, email: margebride@aol.com.

10 x 10 – Real Art Party 2014

Here is one of my entries for the 10×10 RAP Party. What an amazing deal…$25 admission guarantees that you will go home with an original piece of art. So much fun!  I just love this old building. This painting is small….just 8″ x 8″ framed in a 10″ x 10″ frame. Could be yours for $25…but you have to be there!

Chaiwalla Teahouse and Gallery

During November, 2013, many of my original works will be on display at this delightful venue in Salisbury, Connecticut. Besides 19 framed paintings on the walls, there are also 50 different fine art reproductions in bins plus many holiday ornaments  depicting Christmas on Park Square all available for purchase. But lets face it, the main reason to go to Chaiwalla is not for the art, it is for Mary’s outrageous Tomato Pie and a pot of her delicious tea!

Visit the teahouse at 1 Main St, Salisbury, CT.

Here are a few images I took shortly after hanging.

Celebrations Gallery and Shoppes

As of September, 2013 I became a member of the Celebrations Gallery in Pomfret, Conneticut. They currently carry 17 of my original paintings. Celebrations is no ordinary art gallery…it is a delightful large old Victorian house, beautifully designed and and carries so many wonderful items mostly made by  regional artists and incredibly gifted craftspeople (about 40!). Celebrations is located in a beautiful area of Connecticut and I feel very honored that I was invited to be a part of their family.  Please give their website a visit: www.celebrationsshoppes.com.  Also visit their page on facebook and check out the various events….better yet, visit them in person…it is so worth the drive. I will be there for the opening reception for their Small Treasures exhibit next month…but more on that later!

Here are the pieces of mine they currently carry. These will change periodically…in fact I will be delivering some new winter scenes to them soon.
