Lessons to resume!
I am currently available to teach group lessons to small groups (4-6 ideal) local to the Plymouth, NH area. I would come to you since I do not have studio/teaching space at this time. Contact me if you have a small group interested in setting this up and have an appropriate location. Right now, I offer the following class:
Absolute Beginner Watercolor lessons
These 6 sessions are designed to provide an introduction to watercolor painting. You will be starting at ground zero, so do not fret if you have never painted before. Lessons typically run for 6 weeks, 2.5 hr lesson per week (total 15 hrs).
Watercolor painting can be challenging and frustrating at times; I have discovered that knowing these basics is critical to learning how to use this medium and have the best results.
During the 6 classes, the lessons will cover:
-
the different types of brushes, papers and paints used in wc painting;
-
create your own personal watercolor workbook (mine is years old and I still use it)
-
create your own watercolor palette and discover what your paints can achieve;
-
color theory, using the standard color wheel and creating your own based on your own palette.
-
mixing colors
-
basic painting techniques, such as simple wash, wet into wet, dry into wet, dry brush and a few other fun techniques (using salt, plastic wrap, gesso, sponges) as time allows.
To get the most out of these classes you will be expected to do some “homework”. For example, we may start a project in class that you can complete at home. There is a good amount of “theory” in these classes, but I make sure you are painting as well as learning in each class. You will get plenty of handouts as well.
Students are expected to supply their own art materials. I will provide a materials list.
