What a thrill having two of my paintings in Berkshire Magazine this month in the article about shopping in Great Barrington. 

“A Wonderful Life” is the title of the painting and is also the movie listed on the Marquee at the Mahaiwe…and on my birthday! 

“City Store” is the title of this painting that now houses the TP Saddleblanket Store on Main Street in Great Barrington.

    There  has not been a ton of holiday art shows this year…covid is still keeping artists in their studios and not out schmoozing so much…well, at least not me. That doesn’t mean my art is not available….in fact just the opposite. If you should see something that catches your eye on my website, contact me. Some of the originals may be gone, but what about a fine art repro? Or a gift certificate for something really special…custom house portrait or just the ability to pick out a painting. That all works! And I ship!

    My newest winter pieces are on display at “The Art of…” a lovely new gallery on Housatonic Street in Lenox. This gallery represents a small number of eclectic local artists….it is a little treasure right next to the Heritage Tavern.

     Also, fifteen of my original  watercolor paintings are currently on display at Miraval Resorts in Lenox, Massachusetts. Because this is a private resort, it is not open to the public; only guests have access to the art display areas. However, I can remove any of the paintings to show non-Miraval guests in my own studio in Pittsfield by appointment. My most exciting news is that my work can currently be seen in a charming new gallery called “the art of the Berkshires” in Lenox, MA. It is located on Housatonic Street and shares a roof with the Old Heritage Tavern, should you feel hungry or thirsty after viewing some paintings. Right now a selection of my fall landscape and nature type paintings are on display. Later in the fall I will be replacing them with winter paintings. The gallery also carries my fine art repros (matted in two sizes) and cards.

June-July 2022 – Solo exhibit at Hotel on North Gallery, Pittsfield. Be on the lookout for some really funky paintings…all watercolor, some on canvas, cool Berkshire and New England scenes (ok some Ireland too)  and every one with a bicycle…here is a little sample of what is to come. In spite of not doing much publically, artistically I have been very busy…..so here is a little update….
Recently I went on a little cruise through Chershire, the Stafford Hill area to be exact, and the view of Mt. Greylock was stunning. It was bitter cold (single digits) and snow in the air. I took a photo but knew this was going to be a painting……

The Annual 10 x 10 RAP party sponsored by the Berkshire Art Association will take place on Feb 18 th (live online this year of course, click on the link below for details). I have submitted two pieces to be raffled….a little different for me, somewhat based on my experimentation with lensball photography. These are matted and framed in a 10″x 10″ frame, medium is watercolor and ink. Could be yours for $25.

     Introducing a new “gallery” area called “Inspired by Nature”.  In these paintings I try to capture the natural beauty of the Berkshires and New England, and maybe a few other areas I have visited over the years.  I will continue to add to this page as I paint more. What I have found in painting “natural” scenes…I am learning  a LOT about the technical aspect of watercolor painting. And while I have been painting for years, I still have so much to learn about this medium. I would love to hear your feedback and suggestions.

Lenox Tent Display sponsored by the Wit Gallery – the weekend of August 1-2 I will be exhibiting paintings and fine art reproductions outside of “Concepts of Art” on Church Street in Lenox MA from 12 noon – 6 pm. Each week the Wit Gallery has invited 3 different artists to display works. Hope to see you! 

Miraval Resort in Lenox – I now have 16 original pieces on display at this new resort in Lenox (formerly Cranwell). 

Most gallery exhibits and art shows previously planned for the summer have been postponed or cancelled, but there are a couple that I am participating in with “social distancing” and appropriate fashionable (or not fashionable, doesn’t matter) mask-ware.

Friday July 3, 2020 is the day to mark your calendar. The RAIN DATE for both of these events is July 10.

11am-3pm –  6th Annual Home Art Sale…on my front lawn at 46 Glory Drive, Pittsfield. Each year this has become more and more popular, so please plan to come. Prices reduced ridiculously for the day only….originals and reproductions….I will put up my tent and also have about 6-7 bins of paintings.  Here are the rules…haven’t changed in 6 years. Always fun….and it should be even wearing masks!

4pm-8pm – Drive-Walk-Bike City Art Show. Approx 25 artists all over Pittsfield are participating by displaying their art on their front lawns. Maps will be available. My own display will be the same as  earlier in the day during the Home Art Show, maybe rearranged a little.

Jazz Visions – new paintings added to the series…. now about 25 in all.  On display (upstairs and down) at 51 Park Tavern and Restaurant, in Lee, Mass. Ella and Billie have sold but I added Wanda, Nat King Cole and Duke Ellington. I believe the restaurant will be opening up inside soon….Go See. 

Looking for something really special for that new baby in the family? How about a painting of the alphabet created with items that are specifically created to match the nursery theme, colors and interests. Into sports? Animals? Vehicles? Anything goes.

Here are a few I recently created … these are 20″ x 16″ in watercolor/acrylic on a stretched canvas. When finished it is sprayed to make the image permanent…no mat or glass needed.  

There are lots of different ways to do this…many different options and some really fun details that you will be involved in choosing. Be in touch if interested…..I’ll create this heirloom for that new baby in your life.  The cost will vary with the size. Smallest size I  do is 16 x 20; that is $450 for the original painting, done to your specifications, unframed.  Larger size 18 x 24, also unframed is $600. I’ve started something new…I’m painting man’s (well, woman’s) best friend. Why called “naked”? I happen to love the look of dogs in the “buff” but if you would really love a particular outfit on your pup, I’ll give that a try too.

These paintings are done from your own best photo, with a simple background. They are finished in an 11″ x 14″ mat and ready for framing in a standard size frame. Price right now is $150, add $100 for each additional pup in painting. This will change, this is a special price for the time being. 6.25% Sales Tax (in Massachusetts) and shipping anywhere in US ($12) to be included in final price.
